Are you scared of tornadoes, hurricanes, earthquakes, etc? I find that I am rather intrigued by this type of unknown when it comes to weather.  Take today for instance...I feel absolutely free because we have this storm system coming through. And I don't know what it is about earthquakes (we do have them in Oklahoma) but I am fascinated by them and eventually want to get down to Meers so I can see the seismograph that is there. Hurricanes - I think they are interesting as well. I feel bad for anyone that looses life or property because of these devastating events and wish they didn't have to go through it.  But they do fascinate me. Tonja

Tornadoes are known to me. I grew up in OK. So there is no fear there. Hurricanes on the other hand frighten me. I went through a tropical storm in VA. It was massive amounts of rain and wind. People out there didn't blink an eye. But they are scared of tornadoes. They said with hurricanes you know about them for days so you can prepare. Tornadoes you get hours maybe only minutes of warning. Earthquakes are another of nature's expressions I want no part of.

I  love weather/natural phenomena.  I was actually IN San Jose during a 5 am earthquake-the screaming people in the hall woke me up and I rolled over an went back to sleep, not realizing what was going on.  I was sooooooo bummed when I found out about it later. I'm sitting in my sunroom now watching the wind and the rain and the bits of hail.

I grew up in OK most of my life also.  Tornados don't bother me, but I'd rather stay away from Hurricaines and Earthquakes.  At least with Tornados you can run for cover...   With Hurricaines the highways out of the city are all jam packed, people have to board up their windows to try to prevent damage...  it is just ugly. With Earthquakes, there is no warning and no running.  I don't think I would like that.   My cousin was living in Japan for awhile.  He was in college and living with a host family.  He said that they had what he thought was a major earthquake (he's from OK also) and they didn't even wake from sleep!!  He was freaking out!  The place was shaking, things were falling off of shelves, walls, cabinets, tables, etc...  When the family woke up, they seemed surprised and said "oh, guess we had an earthquake last night..."  Like, OK...  no big deal!  Guess we should re-hang the pictures...

Holy cow...MEERS?!?  That place is awesome! And, while we're there (see how I threw that 'we' in there?), we'll have to shoot over to the Wichita Wildlife Refuge and Medicine Park and do some very awesome geocaching in that area. Cathy

We really want to go to Meers and I'm letting anyone else that wants into the "we" to come too! Now is the time of year to go - but I'll have to figure out if I'll have time.  HHHMMMM....... I feel so free!!!!!  It's been an awesome weather day! T
