I attended the same support group that Sherrie did---we sat next to each other.  Anyone is welcome to attend.  It's the second Tuesday of every month in the Natalie Building, 4th floor conference room at 6:00.  They have a clothing exchange after the meeting.  Park on the top level of the parking garage and the walkway takes you right into the conference room.

Hey, I'm going to the informational seminar for Dr. Katsis on November 5 and will (hopefully) attend the next support group meeting too!  You'll have to look for me!  How many people are usually there?   I might try to talk my sister into going with me too.  (she's going with me to the informational seminar)  She had RNY done 4 1/2 years ago and is doing very well.  I'm pretty sure she isn't doing very well getting protein in though, so it would do her some good to go to a meeting!

There was probably about 50 people there.  I've only gone to two in the past but since I've had surgery will try to go every month.

Although I have not attended in a couple of months, I go to the meeting for Surgical Associates of Tulsa.  They also have a meeting on the 3rd Tuesday of each month for those who are 6 months or more out.  I have not attended that meeting yet, but would like to.  I find I'm not getting much out of the regular meetings because there are so many new people there, it takes about an hour for everyone to introduce themselves, and then the rest of the time is mainly spent with pre-ops asking questions.  While this is really great for the pre-ops (and very important), I don't really feel there is any time to address post-op issues. It is a really great meeting, though, and they do a clothing exchange at each one.

That makes it really good that they have a separate one for people who are more than 6 months out!  That way, the newbies get what they need at "their" meeting and the people who know all the newbie stuff get what they need at "their" meeting.  About how many people attend the >6 month out meeting? I don't know why I have to know numbers...  lol  But, I have anxiety disorder and OCD and I'm a number person.  I count everything :o(  I just feel more comfortable knowing numbers before I go into things...  weird...
