1st fill, Dr. G, square dancing, & Pacer
What a day...
My square dancing lessons were terminated, as there wasn't enough participation and the group wouldn't break even on renting the dance hall. Therefore, my do si do is now a do si flop. No new lessons until January, so we'll have to wait until then.
I had my first fill today. It was pretty easy...and had a nice chat with Dr. Gornichec (it's so amicable when I don't argue, I've learned). He put in 3 cc's and then told me that because I was on steroids, it was going to be harder to lose weight during the next several weeks. I'm prepared for that...what I don't lose in weight, I'll make up for in mood-swings, I'm sure. The positive note was that during "bandster hell", as we call it, I didn't gain weight. I actually lost two pounds.
I got back to work and noticed that the site where Dr. G put the band-aid was significantly lower than where my port is. I called the office...stupidly, I'll admit...and tell Crystal that Dr. G was about 4 inches off. Could he have "missed". Is a pocket of saline just sitting in my gut?!? She reminds me that when I'm doing my mini sit-up and he's poking around, he can feel my port and that my skin will move around and that when I stand, there's a possibility the two will separate. Sometimes I wonder why I don't use my brain before I call that office. Gee whiz!
Finally, I leave work to go to Pacer. Today was their "make your own trail mix day", of which I couldn't partake due to my liquid only fill today. Oh well, I most certainly wasn't there to eat. Rather, I found myself on a treadmill and enjoyed watching the news...although was a little offended to learn that Nebraska was so embarrassed by OSU's "lopsided win", they fired their athletic director. Go figure.
Okay, so that's it for my day. I'm hungry, but will get by. I'm awfully burpy tonight, which leads me to believe my saline fill went in the right spot. Dr. G sure is a great doc for putting up with me.
Sorry for rambling...well, not too sorry, or I would've deleted the post and walked away from the computer.

Cathy...congrats on your first fill. I'm eager to hear how it effects you. I'm curious if it will take a few days to fill the results or if it will be immediate. We're all different - so I love hearing about it!
Congrats also on your 2 pounds lost. That's awesome!
As far as the band aid/needle/fill thing - hey - I'm sure you made their day. It's funny when you think about how things move around. Just wait until you lose even more weight and the port seems to be higher and higher up (because of the lack of fat - yee haa!)
I'm proud of you sista!

That sucks about the dancing class not holding up :o( That's good exercise! There is NO way I would be able to get my dh to do ANY kind of dancing with me :o(
Congrats on the fill. Did it hurt? Can you feel the port under your skin? Can you tell a difference yet?
Congrats also on going to Pacer regularly! You're doing good!
