I had the lapband surgery  20 months ago and my husband had the gastric bypass 3 yrs ago.  A nutritionist told him that he shouldn't be taking in alot of protein now since it been longer than a year after surgery.  My question is  should I still be drinking protein drinking and keeping my protein level up or should I follow what the nutritionist told him to do.  Thanks for the help!   I am very confused.

You should follow what your surgical plan is!!! You two had totally different surgeries, so you can't follow his nuts advice. (bty. I think his nuts advice is way WRONG)  I'm 2.5 years out and my body needs 100 grams of protein per day. Most nuts will say between 70-90 grams.  Sounds like both of you need to find a good nutritionist to go to and get you on a good path.  Education takes away confusion the best.  HUGS

This is a question for your surgeon or nutritionist.  Everyone (especially RNY) are going to be different. Tonja

2 different surgeries, two different people (m and f), I would ask my own nutritionist.
