This will be my first mammogram this year, as I'm finally 35.   Not too sure if that's something to brag on  Cathy

Well, let me reassure all of you - there is nothing to it.  I've been having them since I was 30 because mine were so extremely large and I had fibercystic breast syndrome really bad - so I wanted to be safe!  Now that I have had them reduced - I've got a lot of scar tissue in there and I feel like I still can't be 100% certain on my own findings.  So, I go have someone else take a look and feel. I get a mammogram every year.  My office has the Mobile Mammography Unit from Hillcrest come every year so all I have to do I walk out to their RV in the parking lot.  Lucky me! I have a funny story about a good friend of mine.  She's a pretty big girl and went to get her mammogram one year here in Tulsa.  When one of her boobs was being squished, the machine got stuck!!!  They had to call a maintenance man to fix it.  Of course, they covered her up so that she was not exposed but she was caught in the machine for about half an hour.  The maintenance man was sympathetic and tried to ease her discomfort.  He told her "Don't worry honey, I've got one at home the same size as you."  Luckily, my friend has a great sense of humor and has amused all of her many friends with this story.

Wow, that poor lady. I go every year, and sometimes I get  lots of callbacks, but so far they've all been false alarms.  I'm kind of curious to see if altering my estrogen replacement therapy is going to have any effect on the mammogram.  It would be nice not to get that call that says "you need to come back in." My prayers this year are for my friend's mother who is currently waging a fierce battle against a very agressive form of breast cancer-and for my friend.  It's a genetic thing it seems (at least this form of it). And, I always buy pink if that is an option-pink cell phone, pink boxing gloves...etc, breast cancer stamps.  I believe that putting out the intention to stop breast cancer is as important as putting out the money.
