OK Okllahoma, now it feels like fall

The drizzle outside is watering my pansies and purple kale I planted today-so fall must be here.  I even stuck a halloween stake in my pansy pot (don't want the neighbor kids to think I'm a grumpy old spinster with no sense of humor). I unloaded 6 -20 pound bags of dirt-that's 120 pounds and I had to be careful picking up each bag.  So I don't want to hear anyone say I've ONLY lost 20 pounds-cause that is hard work! Sadly, I still need more dirt.  But hauling the dirt and rocks has really put 20 pounds in perspective for me.

I wi**** would feel MORE fall!!  Since I had a hysterectomy last year I seem to be hot all the time!  I used to be cold all the time!!  I've heard people say that they are cold after dropping lbs...  Maybe by this time next year I'll have dropped some weight and I'm not as hot anymore! I wish I had a green thumb .....

I am going on NHRT (natural hormone replacement therapy) to rid myself of the premarin.  Supposedly it will be easy and the additional herbals will help regulate the flashes etc.  I'll keep you posted, but if ya'll hear a loud SCREAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAM from south OKC you'll know it probably isn't working.  Hormones are the worst......and you'd think with all that heat we'd burn fat faster.

I'm on Estrogel that I smear on my arm everyday.  I don't care for it but know several women personally who LOVE it!  I think when this Rx runs out I'm going to go for the patch. I've also considered NHRT but my current gyn doesn't like it and won't help me get it, so I'll have to find another doc to help me with it when I'm ready.  My old insurance didn't cover it and I couldn't justify paying for it but this insurance does, so I might look into it eventually. Have you read Suzanne Sommers book "Ageless:  The Naked Truth about Bioidentical Hormones"?  I got it for Christmas last year and it is really good.  You should check it out if you haven't already.

I'm going to order the book-the one I read was pretty dry.  I am tired of the insurance companies practicing medicine by determining what they will and will not cover and I'm not going to let them determime my medical destiny any longer.  jerks!

Hoodoo, Chocolate always triggers my hotflashes - otherwise I don't have them.  I'm one of the lucky ones! t

About the estrogel...  I said I didn't really care for it.  It isn't that it doesn't work for me, but I just don't like smearing it on my arm!  lol  It goes on the same arm every day.  I guess the bio hormones can and should be smeared on different parts of your body each day.  Rotating...   I also don't care for the alcohol smell of the estrogel.  Surprisingly though, it doesn't make that arm (my left arm) any drier than my right arm.  In fact, I think it actually feels softer. I just think I want to try the patch because it is twice a week instead of daily.  And - CLEANER. I don't really have "hot flashes"  I just tend to generally run at a hotter temperature all the time than I used to.  It is OK in she winter to be warmer, but hasn't been so good in the summer!  lol

Tonja, I wonder if that is why I've slowly lost the chocolate cravings?  Well, Yahoo for menopause. I smear my progesterone cream in my cleavage-sorry if that's TMI but it just seems like a good place where it will sit and not see much action.  I've researched some bioidentical implant pellets, but that technology makes me a little skittish and I don't want to drive to Houston every three months for treatments just yet. I guess it's been almost a week since I switched and by now I'd be weeping like  mad woman going off premarin completely, so there must be something to the plant estrogens and all the other mumbo jumbo.  I had a complete hysty at 26 so I've been taking the hard stuff for almost 20 years-long enough to be concerned and want to change. Since I'm sharing it all-progesterone is not normally indicated if you don't have a uterus, but I find it really has helped the girls and their lumpy issues, so I take it three weeks and then off a week.  Hopefully my next mammogram won't be a three week ordeal!
