I wanted to know how everyone feels about themselves at the end of the week vs. the beginning?  Have you made any positive or negative changes? I was feeling really bummed and overwhelmed at the first part of the week-but I've taken a step back and realized that I'm doing the same thing with my life as I did with my weight-wanting to get it ALL DONE today.  So I've begun to practice incremental thinking with tasks as well as my weight.  It's the all or nothing mindset that gets me into trouble.

I just take each day as a positive new beginning and try to see the good in each day.  I'm sure that sounds corny and I promise I'm not running for Mrs. Oklahoma - but I seriously have tried to take the negative out of my day.  And when I do come across something negative then I just give it the 'Oh Well' and go on. I agree Tonja.  I am using an operant conditioning technique on my parents who are both a bit negative.  I respond minimally to any negative comment, and enthusiastically to any positive comment.  I'm not scientific enough to see if it is causing a change in frequency of negative vs positive, by it is changing my own outlook-we just don't get bogged down in complaining as much as we used to. This is going to sound weird-but bringing someone a 4.00 pot of mums can really brighten up a day and they keep on "giving".  Let's make tomorrow take a mum to Mom day....well, not everyone has ready access to mom, how about take a mum to someone day!!!!!

Sherri-that reminds me of a change I've made this year-I "treat myself" to good food when I give in to the urge to have a food treat.  It seems odd to pay a dollar for an organic peach, but I wouldn't think twice about paying the same dollar for a frosty.  So I'm trying to reframe my thinking. Tonja-that will work because the little mum lightened two hearts-yours and hers!

That is great thinking!  I'm going to try that.  Thanks for putting that into perspective for me.  Your right, we don't think anything about spending a dollar or even two on a snack.  Thanks alot!

I was back in the hospital tonight for an Upper GI, as I've had horrible nausea the past two days and haven't been able to finish a day of work.  I thought that maybe it was my stomach adjusting to "mushies", as it's been so long, but wasn't sure. The Upper GI came back okay...no problems with my band or any food trapped between the two bands.  The bad news is that they don't know what's causing the nausea. That being said, I guess my week isn't ending up as well as it started...but I'm hanging in there. I bought my mother-in-law a mum last Sunday for her birthday.  If feeling up to it, I'll grab one on my way to Stillwater for my own mom...however at this point, I don't know if I'll be making the trip.
