Found a PCP and Surgeon
Well, after a full day of staying on the phone calling doctor after doctor I finally found one that will take me as a patient. He says I have to be 110% committed to losing the weight while I am in the 6 month pre-op stage or he won't write the letter I need. But that's ok... I need to go ahead and make changes now to show that I am committed to the new lifestyle that I will be living after surgery. So I feel better about that now. My first appt with Dr. Gordon is on Wednesday at 10:15.
AND I've decided on which surgeon I am going to use. It was sort of decided for me. I have primary insurance through BCBS PPO Oklahoma, from my husband's job, and then I have Medicare from my disiibility. Dr. Keith's office is the only one in the state that is able to file Medicare because the hospital has to be acredited by a certain thing (I can't remember what... something like Service Excellence) before Medicare will pay anything on the surgery. Plus Dr. Keith's office will file both insurances for me which should way reduce my out of pocket expense.
So I now feel that I am on my way to having WLS!!!
Congratulations - I know you have to feel really relieved with this great news!

Hey great news! But did u know that medicare if primary won't require the diet? I would see if you can file it that way. because medicare gives approval ASAP if you qualify. See about it. Plus medicare does not require a referral. Just an idea. GOOD LUCK TO YOU! Dr Keith's office is great. They are friendly and are there to help you. If you need any help just yell at me!
Pattye, I have to file the insurance through my husband's employer 1st because they have over 100 people working for the company. I wish I could file medicare 1st but they won't let me do it that way. I'm gonna cross my fingers that if they do switch insurance companies in December that it will be with a company that doesn't require 6 months. The insurance we had before only required 3 months.
