New Fill Update

Saturday evening mushies were not really a good idea, by Sunday they were ok.  Today I pb'd immediately after thinking "I bet this eel is a little too dry"..... And I really think that is the case (too dry not too tight).  I waited for an hour and am now sipping some soothing cashew carrot ginger soup-the ginger will calm any tummy upsets. I had only had one coffee/soy drink before trying the eel and I suspect that is way too little liquid before commencing to solid food. The Doc and I had worked out it was better for me to not eat solids till around 11, but I didn't have any water this morning either.   This soup is sooooo dang good I have no desire for anything else, so I will probably sip on it this afternoon just to settle things down.  The dreaded PB is really really NOT that bad, but once I do it I just have no interests in solids for the rest of the day.  The Doc said that was more than fine as long as I didn't tank up on whole milk or milk shakes....LOL. Total calories for the entire soup is 240, but it's pretty high in fat due to the coconut milk so I don't think it would be a good every day thing, but for upset tummy days it surely is nice.

Well, you are certainly doing the smart thing of doing liquids since you had the PB.  It will give you time to heal that tummy up! Tonja

Too bad I didn't listen.  I felt oK, and decided to have some Taco bell refried beans-they are low fat and mushy-but after waiting over 10 minutes in the drive through I decided that I would just go to churches and have some mashed potatoes.  I also ordered a chicken tender, even though by now I was very annoyed and should have just went home.  Calmed myself, slowly at about 1/2 the tender dipped in potatoes----we are talking maybe 1 inches of tender-and band said NO. Now the good news is I slimed a little but it stayed down which I consider a victory of sorts.  I am learning what the NO signs are for me.  But I'm done with solids today. The doctor says it will just take some time and not to get so hung up on I must eat this or that-monitor calories and fat a bit and practice eating.  Gosh, I never thought I would have to practice eating. I did have a "gee, it would be so much easier just to eat a milk shake" moment, but the truth is I am a sick puppy and I actually like protein shakes so I might as well eat the right thing. Not meaning to gross anyone out but I know we have other new post ops soon to be post ops and I thought I'd just talk about my experience with learning to eat solids.

Well, it doesn't matter if it is gross or not - they have to know - and it's great to tell them ahead of time.  BTW - my favorite topic is POOP!  So there - I've made it even more gross than it was before! Tonja

Did I mention I went to a GI doc today and he ordered 4 poop cultures that have to be refrigerated until I can get them back to the lab.  ick. I hope the kids don't start rummaging through baggies looking for something to eat tomorrow.

Ok, last year I had to "collect" some stool samples (my own, not the dogs).  I took them in to the clinic in a lunch bag and said "I'm supposed to drop these off" and headed out the door.  The lady called out "do you want your bag back?" and I turned around and just cracked up and said "uh, no thanks really, you can have it",, which cause HER to crack up.  I am sure the people in the waiting room thought we were mad, but I was making a beeline for the door.
