Is this considered a liquid? Cathy P.S.  I find the stuff grotesque and have no intention of eating it.  This became a conversation between my kids and I after leaving a school picnic tonight where it was being sold.  I told them that I would get input from you guys and see what the verdict was.

Liquid and HEALTHY!!!!!!    Belly Laugh It's pure sugar!! (although it is darn good tasting sugar) I wouldn't consider it a liquid, it melts upon contact with liquid but do a lot of other solids.  HUGS

From a Alton Brown point of view  it is considered a non liquid because it comes from a solid.  Sorry kids basic science....But the actual calorie count of one sticky gluey mass is enough for 20 of us to dump  just one bite each....What da say we should go get some and pass it around at the next get together?

My personal criteria for liquid is how can I be 100 percent sure it would be liquid upon swallowing-cotton candy is borderline-I've never tried to swallow it without chewing it down to liquid.  I know you can take it like putty and make little balls out of it and that would go down as a solid.

I don't know...I may have to disagree. It's spun sugar...and although that starts as a solid, so does the sugar that we put in our coffee before it desolves. When cotton candy  hits your tongue, it melts...to nothingness, really. Besides the calorie/sugar content, I don't see why it wouldn't be okay to eat during the liquid phase. Cathy

But you should only eat it in the spun form, not in the putty ball form-that could cause a clog.  Besides, I'm sure the balls have more sugar/calories.
