New and BMI question
Hi Natalie, Welcome to the Oklahoma OH forum.
I am having the DS and my BMI is about 68. I haven't weighed in a year so thats why I am estimating it. My last weigh in it was 64.8. I may have gained some since.
There is a BMI over 50 forum you should check out and the DS ( Duodenal Switch ) forum is a MUST for anyone checking out surgery options for very high BMI this of course my opinion. There are people who frown on the DS but I think everyone should just gather there own opinion. Do all your homework I don't think a person can do enough research when electing to have any WLS. I wish you all the best and look forward to seeing you on the forums.

Welcome. There may be a BMI cut off for a laproscopic RNY vs an open RNY. That probably varies from surgeon to surgeon as well.
This is a great forum! I am much more comfortable on the Okie forum than I am on the main or lap band forum-I think it probably has something to do with the people here in Oklahoma....LOL. This particular forum is more about offering opinions and offering information than trying debate each point. I think we are an exceptional bunch.
There is no doubt in my mind that ANY WLS is better than remaining obese. 18 pounds has made an incredible difference in my mobility (I have a bum foot) and level of pain. And, I feel hopeful about my physical future again.
