It has been nearly 24 hours and no new posts have been made.  I refuse to turn into "Kansas" here..  Those poor guys don't chat at all. Okay, so what's new in bandster land?  Here's what I learned today... 1)  I've decided to join Pacer.  I compared YMCA, Curves, Edmond Athletic Club, & Pacer, and I like what Pacer has to offer.  It's a little higher than the others, but it also has classes designed for Dr. G's patients for aerobics and stuff like that. 2)  Is it normal that my period would start the day after surgery, despite it ending two weeks ago?  Is that normal? 3)  My son would like to know why it's okay for me to chew a multi-vitamin, yet I can't chew a cracker.  It's nice to  know that people are looking out for my food intake   besides me. 4)  For Tonja or any other post-bandsters of Dr. G...when does he do his first fill?  Is it at the 2-week check up? Thanks for letting me ramble.  I hope everyone had a great Monday. Cathy

Cathy - it is great that you have "someone" looking out for you! I'd definately take that as a plus!!!!  1. glad you found a gym that you like.  2. goodies can do you in!! HONESTLY, I set me a sugar level of 5 grams and REFUSED to go above that until after I hit goal!! A lot of people laughed and said that was nuts, and that I could eat more then that... but CAN doesn't equal SHOULD.  3. ROFL!!!! Kids do say the darndest thing.  4. cant help you, but I'm sure someone else will be able to.  Here's my ramble:  1. Ate a good day today - low on cals and high on the darn carbs again, but overall it was an OK day. (no sugar over 9grams) lol  2. Got totally ticked off at dh. MEN!!!!!! nough said.  Spank 3. Had a good day at school. I'm "helping" with homework now tonight, just got back from biking for 3.5 miles. legs are a bit wobbely.  4.  Someone gave me a beautiful compliment yesterday, I'm still riding the cloud on that one. (hint: it wasn't dh) lol  5. My son who's up in Michigan called today for the first time just to talk. He usually only calls when he wants something. It's been two months and I think he's starting to miss his family.  HUGS

Cathy, I'm glad you are joining Pacer.  I've heard great things about them. I had my first fill at around 4 1/2 to 5 weeks.  I was beyond starving then. So what vitamin are you using? Tonja

I take Centrum Chewables.  It was one that was on the list of preferred vitamins for us. How have you been?   Things going okay with you? Cathy

All is well here.  I got my little bit of a fill last week which brought me up to 2cc.  It's a very good restriction and working really well.  I've already dropped 5 pounds since having the fill.  Goes to show how much I really needed it.  It's good to not be so hungry again.  I was back to being really hungry - but not starving (like pre-band). I used the Bariatric Advantage Vitaband vitamins.  I love em! Tonja

I drove in from Austin today-and I'm off early in the AM for my first fill.  I have noticed that eating smaller portions is much harder than it was early on, and my portion size has been steadily creeping up-but I really can't say I've had bandster "hell" except maybe for the past two days.  And I've been on an extended car trip with my parents-(which was wonderful, but long drives generally equal many snacks).  Overall, I am pleased with how I ate while on the trip-both with choices and quantity, but I am looking forward to that I could care less feeling about food.

I suppose I will weigh tomorrow for the first time since surgery-and I tried to get nervous about it but I just can't.  What's done is done, for better or worse.  I'm really really working hard to get a healthy, non compulsive attitude to go along with all the other positive changes, and I think that I may be getting there.

That said, with the first fill will come more frequent weigh in's and I think my healing period has passed and I should have been exercising.  Yes, I do have a lame foot, but YES, I do have a bicycle that puts no stress whatsoever on said lame foot.

Hoodoo, I'm glad you brought up about snacks. One thing I really like to try to push with people is that you can still eat - and you can still have a snack - we just have to be more sensible about it. As I've said before and I'll say again... I'll never be on another diet - it's a lifestyle change for me! Tonja

Call me crazy, but I kind of believe that once I get some fill action the band will limit the quantity and I will be in charge of "quality control"....at least that is how I see it playing out. With my fill I will begin weighing regularly (but not too often) and when the weightloss slows I'll assess what I'm eating/how much and try to determine if I need another fill. The thing is, even with no fill, there are snacky days and tight days, so one or two days isn't going to be enough to gauge fill levels.  I really don't want to weigh/measure/obsess about food any more-and it's very difficult living one house down from an obessive mother.  (Her picture is by the definition of diet cop).

But she is really really working hard not to obsess about what I eat at least in my presence, and I want to give her proper recognition for that-she's 73 and those types of changes don't come easily.  I'm very proud of her.

When I start considering a fill - I try to give it a two week wait to really observe myself.  If within those  two weeks I feel really tight or food feels a little stuck - then I realize I might want to wait a little longer or see what I might possibly be doing wrong to be feeling that way. With the fill last week, I actually waited about 6 weeks to really make sure I was really needing one.  Of course, I am in my green zone and only needing micro-fills now - so I'm really able to do that and we will all eventually get to that point. For others, in the early stages - they won't have to wait as long as I did to observe if they are in need of a fill. Isn't it all interesting how this all works. I love to hear everyone's side of it - to see what they go through.  I'm always open to learning something new! Tonja
