Here I am...

...sore, constipated, and tired. BUT...I'm not hungry.  WOO HOO!!!!! Dr. G came in and released me today.  Said my Hemoglobin was low and asked if I wanted a transfusion before I left.  He'd cross-typed me for 2 pints to have on-hand during surgery, but I didn't need them, as I didn't bleed too much.  After surgery, though the hgb dropped a bit and as of today's lab work, I was anemic again.  Dr. G thought maybe all the extra fluids caused my bloodwork to become diluted, so the hgb would drop. Anyway, I asked if I needed it, and he said "no", but that if I get dizzy or feel really crappy, I should come back in and get it.  I told him I would. It's nice to be home again.  If there's one thing I could recommend to any pre-op patient, is if you're taller than average (5'8 or taller), request a longer bed.  They had to change mine, as I couldn't extend my legs because they pushed against the footboard.  Easy problem to fix, but if the hospital had been at capacity, it could've been a real problem. Nursing staff was wonderful.  OR staff was wonderful.  Seeing my kids & hubby at the end of the day was remarkably wonderful. Pattye, thank you for updating everyone on my progress.  Everyone, thank you for the prayers and support.   Time to hit the lortab and head back to bed.  Hopefully I'll be on more tomorrow. Love, Cathy Oh, and my liver was nice and pliable.  Although it had a little scar tissue on it, he was able to work with it.

Yeah Cathy! Glad you are back with us and that you are banded! I called up at the hospital around 9:30am to see about chatting with you and possibly coming up - but they said they had no one by that name - so - I missed ya! I'm so thankful that all went well. Looking forward to sharing more of this amazing experience with you! Tonja

Cathy, How are you feeling now?  Much pain, gas, etc.?  Any trouble with water?  How's the anemia? Hope it was an awesome day for you!  I've thought of you all day - but we were in Blackwell. Tonja

Gas pain is a bit troublesome, but it's starting to reduce.  I'm getting in 60+ ounces of water each day.  Unsure of the anemia, as I've not been checked, but I'm taking my multi-vitimin again, so that should help.  Pain is manageable with the lortab elixir. I'm starting to get hungry.  I don't necessarily want to eat the "main" things, but I sure could go for some scrambled eggs or mashed acorn squash right now.  I know I still have two weeks before I can add those to the diet. I appreciate you thinking of me.  I'm getting by...just ready to move through this portion of the post-op diet. Cathy
