In Stillwater , Ok. and need advice and support.

Okay okies, I'm back to familiar ground-but no support that I can find.   I wouldn't mind if it came from Edmond or Tulsa. I just need to acquire support from a bariatric group or a meetup of some form. We all need support close to home.    Let me know ASAP, Kristin

Kristin - You are right, we all need support of some kind. I'm in Tulsa area, but since I'm new here I don't know of any group meetings. I just get on here and give as much support as I can fit in.  HUGS

I am beginning to think we need to start a support group in our area on our own.

Hey Kristin, Just wanted you to know that you are welcome to come to the support group we have at Integris.  It meets the 1st Saturday and 3rd Tuesday of each month.  It is for both lap band and rny.  I feel like it is a very enjoyable time for everyone that attends and we cover a lot of territory and answer lots of questions. This group has become a great source of support for me.  I realized that when I was so relieved to read that Cathy had her band-that meant I truly cared.  I really appreciate all the new friends I've made here.  I was really worried that Oklahoma was going to be "backwards" when it came to WLS, and there are fewer of us around than in Dallas, but the support you get more than makes up for the numbers thing.  It is truly a gift and I don't think that I would have found that in Dallas.  (It's ok to say that here, isn't it?)

Weightwise has several support groups throughout the month that all are invited to as well.  You can review the opportunities at weightwise.com under Events.  We have several patients that attend from the Stillwater and Enid areas.  There is usually a speaker that talks for the 1st half of the meeting and then there is a round table type forum to discuss what is going on with everyone.  Support is very important to all of us and it doesn't matter whose you attend, just get to one that works or shop around even!  There used to be a support group out of St Mary's in Enid as well, but I haven't seen any information about it recently.  You might be able to call St Mary's and find out if it is still active.  Good luck and know that you are always welcome at Weightwise!!

We have a support meeting tomorrow at WF, TX go to bariatrics of texas to find out the time and place if that will help.  LeaAnn
