How wierd. I feel really great.
I make a lot of references to missing food...and my ticker indicates that as well. However, for the most part, I'm teasing. Although my carbs and protein are lower than my goals, I feel surprisingly good.
I only cheated twice on this liquid diet...once on the very first day when I accidentally took a bite of toast first thing in the morning when I was handing it to my son (I forgot I was supposed to start). Second, yesterday, I ate some SF rice pudding, thinking it would be no different than pudding, just to find out that the rice was "solid". Whoops...I gave the rest to my husband. Funny thing is, both times I didn't mean to cheat. They truly were accidental.
I don't think I've lost weight during this pre-op stage, and, again, that's okay. I know that I'm following doctor orders and doing what he needs me to do to get my body prepared for surgery.
I do look forward to having a Subway sandwich very soon...for some reason, it's the one food I miss. Although I used to eat veggie sandwiches, I guess I need to learn to put meat on them in order to keep my protein up.
I never thought I could make 10 days without eating "substance". I continued to wonder if this had nothing to do with my liver, but it was doc's way of seeing if his patients would be compliant. At one point, I figured all bariatric surgeons were in on this scheme together.
Day two was my hardest, as I was having all sorts of intolerances due to dairy & lactose. The rest of the week was much better...especially once I gave in to trying Lactaid so I could eat cottage cheese again. I had no idea that stuff really worked. The weekend was hard, but only because we didn't have plans and I slept a lot because I was bored. In the past (like 9 days ago), I would've consumed this time with eating, but because I wanted to succeed, I just took naps. Many many naps. Oh, and I walked around the block a couple of times with my kids.
Today has definitely been my best day. Back to work and really seeing the light at the end of the tunnel. I have one day of work to go. I have one day of liquids to go. I have one more night of OH posting before I'm a bandster.
I couldn't have done this without you guys.
My how time flies when you're having fun.
I love you guys.
Cathy
Do you know your time yet?
You are doing so well. There are some people who can't do the 10 day diet. They cheat the whole time - of course, Dr. G can tell who those people are. Your liver will be looking good and he will be so proud of you for it.
I don't consider those to be cheating - so we'll say they aren't cheating.
I am so proud of you and your positive attitude. Sometimes the laughing about not having the food, and making comments about it help get us through it.
You are doing so good and you are a good roll model for those that are waiting and for those that have to go back on liquids (me) for a couple of days due to fills.
Keep up the good work.
You are almost there!!!! YEAH!!!!!

Thank you, Tonja.
Surgery is scheduled for 8:15 a.m. I have to be there at 6:00 a.m. Surgery "should" be over by 10:00 a.m., and I'm hoping to wake up around noon to find out whether Dr. G was able to get the band on me....and then hit the morphine pump a few dozen times and go back to sleep.
(I'm such a planner...it's almost too nerve-wrecking)

I miss the smell of Subway. I was a veggie sanwich person too. I don't know that the bread would work for me just yet, but I could eat a salad and sniff the bread and I'd truly probably be just as happy. Uncle John and I went out for Lasagna and Pizza the other day (one of our favorite trips) and I ate the top off the Pizza and the ricotta out of the Lasagna and some of my salad and I was just as happy as a clam.
I am a huge believer in naps.
It's been nice to share the pre-band part of this with you and the gang. This entire website and this board in particular has been a great help to me.

I'm so excited for you. I'm counting down with you. You are in my thoughts and prayers that the rest of today and tomorrow that you will be at peace and have an absolute calm about the procedure and that the Lord will be with Dr. G and that He will guide his hands in being skillful and Dr. G will be able to perform the surgery without any problems and you will come out a brand new you.
I'm looking forward to hearing all about it!

Thanks to each of you. I'm counting down the hours...
I did my pre-op blood work today. They had to cross-type 2 pints of blood, as they're predicting I'll need a transfusion after (I'm anemic). I love that Dr. G is so thorough with his testing.
I guess since I've not received a call saying that my bloodwork was out of whack or I'm pregnant, I'll be in a hospital gown in 12 hours.
Wow...
