Awesome Meeting Today!

It was so great meeting so many people today and listening to experiences and comments from post & pre bandsters, as well as post & pre bypass patients.   I hope more of them will join OH and start chatting with us here, as I think this place has a wealth of information. Angela, it was AWESOME getting to chat with you after the meeting.  Tonja, your before pics are astounding.  Bridget...was that you sitting behind me? Pattye, I looked for you...maybe I missed you.  Were you there? See you all again soon! Cathy

Cathy, I had a bad night last night, and when I finally fell asleep my brother called and gave me some horrible news. After his call I just couldn't get my act together and get there on time. I hate being late! But I will be at the next one. Scouts honor.  I even printed off a map and the lay of the hospital so i wouldn't get lost.

Pattye, I'm sorry you had such a rough evening Friday.  I hope all is okay.  Hang in there and I'll look forward to seeing you next month!  Hopefully, if all goes as planned, I'll be post-op on that day.  Cathy

I love it when  we do just question and answer.  I ended up staying until about 1:30 chatting with a couple of people.  It was a lot of fun.  I love talking about bariatric surgery.  It's such a life saver!!! It was so great seeing everyone.  I hope more people will join up with giving them info on OH.  We will see.  I wish I would have mentioned - completely forgot - that it's FREE!  I think that would have prompted people to get on and look.  Oh well, maybe next time. Cathy - you look awesome - and healthy - and I'm looking forward to hearing about your successful surgery and that you are not having any pain - and it's the best thing you've ever done! You are in my prayers! Tonja

Today was my first support group meeting , and i have what it help it was to me . I really felt like i fit in.  I am just starting but I am hoping my process will be a short one , so far everything has gone very smoothly.  It is a great comfort to know there are so many people just like me.  Thank you again for the great time !! I look forward to next time .  Have a wonderful LONG weekend!!

Luanne, Welcome to OH!  I'm glad you joined us for the meeting yesterday.  I agree, that it's nice to get to visit with so many people who have the experiences to share. I'm trying to put a face with your name.  Where were you sitting?  Which surgery are you thinking about having?  I hope we see you on this board more often! Cathy

Hi  Cathy, I am hopefully having Lap band surgery , I was the only one in the meeting dressed in my OSU attire , on the back row in the middle section , i did ask a couple questions . Thank you for responding , you are my first added friend!!!  Have an awesome day. Lu

 Tonja, Thank you for the compliment.  I feel really good, too.  I agree about the Q & A sessions.  Sometimes I find them more informational than an actual speaker.   I wonder...have you polled the group (regulars) to find out whether they learn more from speakers or from informal Q & A meetings?  As the leader, are you required to have a certain amount of speakers?  I'm just curious about the formatting of the support group meetings, not questioning your ability to lead.  I think you're fabulous!!! From what I've gathered, people like having the guest speakers.  So Betty lines them up. Also, a lot of times, we actually separate the the groups as well, so we can have more specific, surgery type, discussions. Tonja
