I just have to say this, I read this forum at least once a day and know that I could really use some of that "love" I see on here all the time.  I have just had to tell you what happened today!  I am on my 5th month of my pre-cert diet and I have been really trying to get "ready" for surgery by exercising and eating right, plus try to loose alittle weight.  Now, I haven't been told I had to loose a certain amount or anything - but the more I read - it seems that it shows "commitment" to your insurance company.  So I quit drinking pop (almost as hard as smoking 3 years ago), got a treadmill and have been on it EVERY day for a whole month.  What happens today when I go weigh in.....I gained 5#!!!!  I was SO devaistated!  I mean, I haven't cut out everything - so I wasn't expecting Dynamic results - just alitte reward for my efforts.  Awh Maannn!  I was really disappointed.  Ok -  just had to get that little pitty party out.  I was just really sad.

Hey...don't be so hard on yourself. I bet you're gaining muscle because of all the exercise.  Not to mention, ridding your body of the extra sugar and sodium from the pop (heck, I've not been able to knock that out, yet). I can only imagine how bummed out you must've felt, but hang in there.  You're on the right track! Cathy

Thanks for the kind words, Cathy.  Its hard enough waiting and playing the insurance game, that when I finally got my mind in the "right place" I just wanted to see somthing.  Oh well - Dr says no more breads/pasta and we will see how I do this month.  Yipee!!!!

Sandy, Sandy, Sandy, Lots of love from here!  I know you are feeling frustrated, but don't be.  You've not had any surgery yet - and you are trying to do good.  There are lots to things to take in... What is your age?  Once you have hit your 30's it gets harder. Do you still have your cycle?  This could be an ah-ha either way! If yes, are you getting close to time?  This could be the answer... Have you had any extra salt lately?  This one will mess me up! Have you had your thyroid checked?  Hyper and hypo thyroidism can cause problems with weight gain! And, like Cathy said, you are building muscle!  You are on the right track here - just don't be so hard on yourself. Tonja

Tonja,  Thanks for the pep talk.  No treadmill tonight - but tomorrow -I promise to be back on it.  Just needed to take a break from it tonight.  I'm just so excited about having wls and getting healthy.  I want to do it the "right" way.  I'm sure I am too hard on myself - but also know that this kinda Yucky day is almost over and tomorrow is a new one!!! -Sandy

Dont let those darn scales run your life!! You're doing GREAT!!!!!!!!!!!! And that's the plain truth. You're making changes that will not only help you now, but will insure success after wls and that is awesome!!!  Just keep it up and it'll be OK.  HUGS

I understand your disapointment.  That's why I haven't even weighed since surgery, because no matter what I eat or don't eat, how much I work out the scale determines how I feel about things.  Yeah, I'm working on it, but it's tough.  When you have spent your whole life letting that thing tell how you are "really" doing, it's a hard habit to break.  Hang in there kiddo.

Hi! First things first! You are making changes that will help you in the long run. So if the scales say you gained it could be knowledge. I quit drinking diet coke back in June for me that was the hardest thing to do. I had also cut out cookies and candy and stuff like that. I did not lose alot of weight until I set down and made a commitment to myself. I would eat only healthy foods no snacking no eating after 7 pm no chips, fries, bread. I would eat 3 meals aday and exercise. I went to my first seminar and saw what I weighted. Went to my first consult(July18)  and saw that I had lost 6 pounds. For me that was a miracle. Since July 19 when I started the pre operative diet I have lost 26 pounds.  Do not fret over what you could have done cause tomorrow is another day to start all over again. Instead of putting yourself in a sad spot, write out what you are feeling, journal your food intake and be honest about it. Then you will see where you need help on. I would also do something else besides a treadmill, like lift weights every other day to balance out the exercising.
