I live in an apartment community on the NW side of OKC. Its a great neighborhood and convinent to store etc. On June 1 the property was sold without even telling the tenants and since then the place is not like it use to be. URH  We decided to move and so for the last 2 or 3 weekend we have gone apartment hunting. MY rant is this, why is it so hard to find an apartment that is big enough for 2 people, small pets allowed, in a great neighborhood, and not overly priced. I want to rent the place not buy it

AMEN Sister!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  Everyone told me that the cost of living was better here in Oklahoma even though the wages were lower - WRONG WRONG WRONG!!!!!  What the heck is lower????????? Gas is the same, a gallon of milk is the same. Groceries all in all are the same as Michigan. I don't know about utilities as I don't have a full months bill yet, but internet and telephone are the same as in Michigan. Rent is HIGH here!!!!! We needed a 3 bed (pets weren't an issue) and we had a hard time finding one. Now we are in a GREAT apartment complex, we LOVE it here... but we pay over $900 per month!!!!!!! Yes, it's gated, and has a very nice pool... but we pay a lot for that.  Best of wishes finding something you can afford.

Our apartment is 650 square footage. This place is small! We have 2 pools one has been closed all summer. Suppose to have 2 laundry facuilities but one is closed because of remodeling and moving the office. So that area can be torn down and a new Wal Greens can be built. My rent has increased $20.00 from a year ago. And when we renew in October it is suppose to go up another $30.00 dollars. This new company is expecting the tenants to pay for the cost of moving the office. NOT.  Maybe I am missing the east coasts standards.... We looked today for over 4 hours. The one place that was suppose to be just beautiful...was like ickes in person. Then another one was overpriced for a one bedroom.  The only one that was okay on the outside location okay, and allows pets....is near a  shopping center. There has been only one apartment that I have liked since starting this. And its well over $1200.00 a month. I refuse to pay that kind of money for a one bedroom anything. Unless it has maid service, trash pickup at my door, a cook, and a good looking male servant who walks around in leather pants....

So does that mean that you are looking  kind of in the Edmond area?  I'm not sure of my directions here.  Are you opposed to renting a house?  I'll try to keep my eyes and ears open for you. ** As far as Broken Arrow - everything is high in Broken Arrow.  I feel for anyone that lives up that way!  They are proud of that area! Right now, I am about 6 blocks from Mercy Hospital. West of it actually. We kinda want to stay Way North of North west expressway. Renting a house for us right now is kinda out of the question. There are hardly any one bedroom houses available. I am werid I suppose, I do not want more room then we need and I don't want less room that what we need.

It is tough.  I don't have any insight, but I will say a prayer for you.

So, are you focusing on the apartments near 122nd & Penn (known as apartment row, as there are about 12 complexes in a 2 mile radius)?   Have you checked apartmentfinder.com? What are your location requirements?  I have a feeling that if you went a little more 'south', you may find something cheaper. Good luck! Cathy

I found a few south of Northwest Expressway. John does not want to live south of there unless its in south OKC. Basically he wants west of Penn. east of countyline rd and north of Northwest Expressway.  I have an appointment today to look at a duplex.  I started looking last month, I think I was smart by doing so.
