Band Question - Time off work
Friends,
I know this has probably been asked a bazillion times, and I searched OH, but couldn't find the answer.
I have a sedantary job. I sit at a desk all day with minor walks to the printer (about 20 feet away). No heavy lifting at all.
My surgery is on a Thursday, and I figured I'd be back at my desk by Monday, but I really don't want to push myself or my body, if I'm going to need more recovery time.
On the other hand, I don't want to take excessive time off work if I don't need it.
For those who have had a laproscopic band, realistically, how many days should I plan to be off of work?
Thank you,
Cathy
Cathy,
I have read where people have gone back to work that soon having jobs like yours. And then some have taken 2 weeks and more off. To me it would depend on how well you can handle pain. Remember you just had major surgery so you are going to be tired more and energy is not going to be at peak. Talk to your surgeon and see what he recommends. We were told to take off at least at least a week to 4 weeks.
I would say it all depends on your pain level at the time. I would have been able to go back on a Monday - but it's all up to each individual person. At the time, I didn't have a job - but I do believe I could have easily gone back. It may be that you end up taking off on Monday and then going back on Tuesday or preparing the boss that you may only work 1/2 days for a couple days. You will be the best judge on this one. I am so excited for you!
