end of summer and oddities

I am one of the few women who have no children. So the only signs I have that summer is coming to a close is the summer clearace sales at the stores. Or when the school buses start honking for the kids. It's strange how memories will start coming back of days of yore  when we were kids and rushing to find school clothes and the latest cool gadgets. Now days I just assume its basically the same thing except the gadgets are more expensive. So this is my question what are the signs for you that summer is about over?

Maybe being childless does have some rewards....NAW.... Thats what I miss going to get school supplies.  I haven't even had a homegrown tomato   yet ....a tomato sandwich on wheat bread with mayo and just a tad of salt..juice running down your chin....

YES, the kids have been fighting - but guess what - they had to go back to school today - YEAH!  It was a good thing for all of us.  My girls are the greatest, but they were sick of going to work with me every day. I love the smell in the air and the trees changing colors.  I am so excited it's almost jacket weather.  And, the fair will be coming to town before too long! Tonja

I love fall and winter!  when I lived in North Carolina every fall I would drive up in the mountains to watch the leaves and buy apples and all the goodies up there. Spend the night in a cottage wake up early go out and sit on the porch wrapped up in a blanket for the reward you would see deer or sometimes a bear.... And if you were real lucky you would get snow in October.....

My kids are grown now, and usually the first signs of summer ending for me, is that big display of school supplies lists in Walmart. That's when it hits me that its the end of August lol. That and I know that right after the school supplies display goes away, it'll be Halloween stuff, then Christmas displays right after! Donna
