Obesity Walk

Did you all know that there is going to be an Obesity Walk aka Walk From Obesity on September 29, 2007.  I'm not quite sure where it is going to be held yet, but it would be great fun for a bunch of us - regardless of which surgeon we have/had and regardless of what bariatric procedure we chose - to get together for this. What do you all think? Tonja

P.S.  It's $25.00 to do it - and - you get a t-shirt with it.  Nothing like getting a t-shirt out of the deal - right?!? Tonja

I'd like to do it-I will probably have to do the 1K fun walk (I had a heal reposition in February) but I'd like to give it a try. If it looks like my leg won't make it, I'll still sign up and then wait at the finish line to cheer the rest of you on.

I believe that Integris Baptist Weight Loss Center is going to be joining in as well. Isn't it an awesome feeling to know that we can help in the fight against obesity?  I love the idea that we are advocates for this cause. Does anyone else feel as excited about it as I do? Tonja

I'm scoured the web site to find out the distance we'll be walking.  Have I missed it on there?  Does anyone know what the mileage is? Thanks! Cathy

Same here - there isn't a whole heck of a lot of info on there. If I find out - I'll let you all know!  Or if anyone else knows, please post! Tonja

I'm really stoked about this.  I think I'll sign my mother up too-she can walk circles around me, but she is a "born again weigh****cher" from the early days, and has always struggled to maintain her weight.  I think she'd get a real sense of empowerment from doing this-she's never been to formal walk.   And while sometimes it can get tiresome-who can complain about a woman who grinds chicken for you so you can eat with the family and makes sugarfree applesauce FRESH for your mushies? She asks a lot of questions, but she does it so she can get the "right" foods for any meals we share-I love that woman!

Sounds like you've got a good mom on your hands!  Looking forward to seeing her in there with us! Tonja
