I had my RNY on July 25th and everything went well.  I'm still sore but doing pretty good.  I'm so happy to be on the post op side now. I'm starting to get tired of my protein drinks now.  I had my hubby go out and get me a big container of Vanilla tonight.  It seems like you can add so much to Vanilla and I'm tired of Choc drinks. Anyone have a recipe for coffee and vanilla?  I think I will try adding cinnamon tonight.   I'm not hungry at all but I get head hungry when I see food on TV.  I keep telling my husband ...  UMM... that looks SO GOOD!  I can say that I am ready to have something that I can chew.  Looking forward to the soft food stage. I have not attemped to try adding milk to anything yet because I hear some many people dump on it.  I LOVE milk and I hope that I will tolorate it okay.  I might try it out tomorrow also.  I think it would make my drinks taste better.   Have a great week!

Hi,      Try adding a few drops of rum or almond flavored extracts.  Hazelnut coffee syrups are available that are sugar free as well.  The flavored coffee mate's aren't bad.

A little shot of Mexican Vanilla alters the taste for a change.  Also any of the fruit only, no sugar added spreads can add fruit flavor to anything-I buy plain yogurt and make my own fruit flavors for yogurt shakes and cottage cheese. The Special K protein water is suprisingly tasty.

Congrats on having your surgery.  Did it feel like that day would never come? I know it did for me, and now I can't believe it's been 9 months!  As far as protein, I can't really advise you on that.  I'm not a protein shake drinker.  I have really tried, but I can't stand the taste or smell of them, and they make me gag.  I just try to get in a lot of protein rich foods.  I also drink a LOT of milk, and was thankful I still could.  It hasn't given me any problems at all.  I do drink skim milk, so I don't know if that has anything to do with it or not.

I tried some skim milk with my shake today and I had no problems.  I'm so thankful for that because I LOVE milk.  I feel like I having something a little more solid with milk.  Protein and water is hard to adjust to.   I will say this though.... I'm on day 6 and the emotional rollercoster has kicked in today.  Wow, I started 1 hour after I got this morning.  I knew I would have to GAG all those crushed pills down and it's so hard.  But I get them all in.  I am so ready to have something to chew on.  I still have several days on clear liquids and it's getting hard.  I'm not hungry... but I want to chew something. I know this is only a phase and it will pass in a few weeks.
