I just need to say....
Ok, I just need to say it because I did it...for those of you who dont know, I was scheduled to have my RNY surgery on July 16th but because of my own stupidity and lack of common sense, my doctor informed me that he was not going to do the surgery. I was 1 week into my liquid diet and he told me this. Ok, I am not crying to anyone about this (not anymore, that is...lol) since it was truly my fault but instead I am boasting about my progress...
My doc says I have to be quit smoking for 8 weeks before he will reschedule my surgery....I am not down 2 weeks (and that is quitting cold turkey) and have 6 more to go...I also figured out that the 6 weeks falls on my husband and mine 14th Wedding anniversary.... One of the biggest test was tonight when we had a bunch of people over for a barbecue and beer and all we were doing was shooting jello shots ( I think I must have had a minimum of like 20 of them) and for those of you who were or are smokers....it is hard to drink and not smoke...just about everyone at my house was a smoker but I prevailed and did not... and I even had 4 packs left over from when I quit and gave them to the people at my house...now I think I will pat myself on the shoulder for that one....lol...
I honestly can say that I did not crave one either.... I will make this 6 more weeks and continue on with it even after the surgery...kind of nice not hacking my lungs in the morning just so I can breath....
Thanks for letting me rant...

This is a blessing in disguise-the smoking is just as bad for you as the weight. Just think, in a few weeks you will have addressed two major health problems.
AND, in 3 months you are going to need those spiffy clean lungs to keep up with your ever dynamic body. You go girl!
Thanks you guys....I really appreciate the words of wisdom....actually I had a glimpse of that today...I took my daughter to the dentist and while I was waiting someone went outside and smoked and everytime the door opened the smoke came in....by the time I left I had a headache from the smell....luckily all these years I didnt smoke in my house or vehicle, so I dont have to smell that anymore since I quit...plus my husband actually seems to like kissing me more...lol
You are doing great! as an exsmoker I understand! Its hard to quit but so worth it! You seem to be doing good without assistance way to go! I too quit so I can have wls, but I did it on my own several months ago and I am so glad I did. I feel much better now, its easier to breath. If ya need to vent go ahead, we will listen!
God Bless ya,
