Talk about a major dissappointment!!!
I think sometimes the doctors forget to stop and remember that we are all human, and it is not easy to give up two vices at once. Food and cigarettes are a major staple in many people's lives. I gave up both, and I feel so much better now, but that does not mean it was easy. You hang in there and prove to your doctor you are strong and you can take control and do what needs doing. You aren't going to go away that easily!
I'm surprised the folks at Reynolds didn't send you to Dr. Warnock (he might have been on vacation when the consult was being requested though). He only requires that you quit smoking at least 30 days prior to surgery. But either way, the longer you're smoke free before surgery, the better I think. They make you do alot of those deep breathing exercises with that plastic thingamabob after surgery and they want you to cough out the anesthesia. It's really hard to do when you're a smoker. I've been quit for 2 years now, after smoking 2-3 packs a day for 20-ish years. I've had surgeries in the past where I had to deep breathe and cough while I was still a smoker, and I have to say...this surgery (my first since I quit smoking) was a lot easier to recover from AND I'm older now! Stick with it and pretty soon you'll be a reformed smoker too who makes faces at the smokers you see and when you smell it lol. (hugs!)

When I saw my PCM at Reynolds he put me in for a Lapband referral and somehow they gave me Dr May instead of Warnock. I am not too dissappointed about it because Dr May does his surgery Laproscopically which works great for me....As for the two months...I keep hoping that he says after a month that he will do the surgery and that he just wanted to see if I could do it or was going to do it. Who knows. One can hope....10 days down, 46 days to go....
