Hello am 4 years post op as of yesterday i started at 311 and got to 179 and today i am 265 and had a baby 1 year and 3 weeks ago.  3 weeks after having my son i went on the depo and no lie in 3 months i gained 41 pounds. Went from no meds to 4 stomach, meds blood pressure meds and meds for anexity.  I spent all last week in the local hospital because of an inflamed esophagus, sliding hiatal hernia and severe acid reflux.. Now i have blisters in my mouth and have to see my primary dr on the 18th .. On June 5th i had a scope and found all these problems on June 8th was admitted to hospital on June 12th i had a  upper gi small bowl follow through were they found the same stomach problems but a mass in front of my appendix was released from hospital still sick and not able to eat on June 13th and i had  a colonoscopy on the 15th to confirm the mass was cancer thank god..
Now once i have all these records i have to send to Dr Gornichec and let him view them when he gets back in a week and then we will sit down and talk about what i will be having done.. He already has the reports from the scope and from my pervious surgery 4 years ago. The dr here that fixes hernias said my bmi was to high for him to fix it and it was up to a gastric bypass surgeon to do so..
Ps i found out my stomach is twice the size it should be and this surgeon i talk to for just 5 mins in the hospital put in records i had no motivation to lost weight.. How does he know what i can do?

So anyone had a revision or used this dr?

Hi Mrs. Attitude, I went to see Dr. Gornicec twice while considering gastric surgery.  My husband and I were not impressed with him at all.  He gave us inconsistent answers from one visit to the next.  He did not seem to be interested in the "Whole" well being of his patients.  It felt to us like he just wanted us to sign up for surgery...get it done....and then he'd send us along on our merry way.   I am now a patient of Dr. Walton at the Weight Wise clinic in Edmond.  I have not yet had surgery, but up till now, the experience with him has been entirely the opposite.  We have been so pleased with every aspect of our experience with Dr. Walton and his staff.

If you find that you have the same experience with Dr. Gornicec, you might consider seeing Dr. Walton. Best of luck to you! Jacki

Wow - I was surprised to read Jacki's post. Dr. G has been nothing short of incredible to me. In fact, I can thank God that he runs so many pre-surgical tests. As result, I found out that I had several heart and lung problems that I had NO IDEA about prior to the pre-surgery tests. I'm still having gastric surgery - thank God that my cardiac doc and pulmonary doc signed off. But, I would have never found out about these problems - I had been complaining about the sympotons for years and my doc back in Ohio kept telling me I was fat and stressed! UGH! I just hate doctors like that one! Dr. G is very interested in me as a patient and takes the time to ensure that I know what's going to happen with the surgery - before, during and after.  I'd definitely recommend seeing him - without a doubt. I guess there's always two sides to every story - Jacki and I have had completely different experiences. Really, it's all about who you are comfortable with --- good luck to you! Cheryl
