Choosing a surgeon in Tulsa

My husband and I have both decided to have lapband surgery. We attended a seminar for Dr Gorospe in March and have our first appointment May 4th. I am wondering how others have picked their surgeons. Our insurance covers the procedure. I have not talked to anyone that has had the surgery in Tulsa. I am just trying to decide if we have picked the best surgeon for us. :help: Thanks for any input.

Hi Jancie, Dr. Gorospe is a great choice. I am pre-op and will have rny sometime in June. I did research in in Tulsa and I love everything about Dr. Gorospe and his staff. You should attend his support group meetings and see how supportive they are. Everyone is so nice and the meetings are great!! I have met allot of great people though the support group and they have been very helpful with the questions I ask. And the support goes beyond surgery.... the just had a Spring Fling, they are planning a trip to Cancun in a few months and have a Christmas party every year. I think you both would be making a great choice with him. I have been to 2 of the support group meetning and I'm looking forward to the one in May. You are only required to attend 1 before your surgery but I like them so much I go every month. Good luck!! Carrie

Congrats to you and your hubby on your weight loss journey. Dr. Gorospe was on my list of doctors I wanted to do my RNY. I chose a different doctor that was closer to me but just as good. After doing tons of research on doctors, I think you've made a great choice in Dr. Gorospe. Just wanted to let you know. Hope that helps some and good luck in your journey!! Hi Janice Dr Gorospe did my Lap band surgery last January. He is an excellent Doctor and I had received very good follow-up care from him and his staff. As mentioned, his support group meetings are great, we get together the second Monday of each Month at the Broken Arrow TCC Campus located at 111th and Olive Broken Arrow, Ok. Our next metting is May 14. He and Dr Kirk's attend all the meetings and there is a Q&A section. He also have an online support group that you can join after your first consultation. I have lost 46 pounds since 1/10 and I feel better than ever. After my first consultation, I was approved by my insurance in less than two weeks, and I did all my pre-op tests in two months.
