giving food up and faves now and recipes
Hi Edna,
The hardest to give up was actually Cokes. I miss them SOOOO much, but as I get further out from surgery, it is getting easier.
Right now, I enjoy chicken, low fat cheese, chili, refried beans, peanut butter, bean soups, low fat ground beef recipes, hummas, pimento cheese, wheat pasta, and omelettes. And my protein drinks with fresh and frozen fruit.

I had to think hard on this one...it's been so long that I really don't remember what was hardest to give up. I'd cut back slowly on sodas the last 3 mos before surgery and upped water. But after 15 mos post lived overseas for a bit where water was high calcium and a lot of it non-potable so soda slowly came back into my life.
Some of my attitude on food was that it had for so long been my 'friend' and I made myself realize that I had eaten plenty of donuts, candies, etc for a long long time.Hey it was a friend was that such a good 'friend' wasn't it? My attitude now is what will this food do for me?
The one comfort food that I still keep however are saltines..but wow, in very small amounts. Who knows what they represent but it is something I've gotta have!!
my favorite plate of food is: cubes of assort. cheese, pickles and olives with maybe a slice of chicken breast in there somewhere too.
