Moving to Oklahoma in 3 weeks...

Hi everyone. My husband is in the Navy and being transferred to Tinker Air Force Base in about 3 weeks. Does anyone live in that area? I am 2 months post-op RNY and will need a good Dr that accepts Tricare Prime for my follow-up. I guess I'll have to change my name from Angela in San Diego too. lol I'm looking forward to getting to know some Oklahoma folks. Angela

Angela: Welcome to the Sooner State!! I live just a couple miles from Tinker, an Air Force brat myself! My surgeon is in Edmond which is a few miles north of Midwest City, where TAFB is located. His name is Greg Walton and he is with WeightWise of Edmond. They have their own hospital and clinic as well as a marketplace, support groups, etc. You can find out information about them at www.weightwise.org. We have support groups for RNY on the 1st Thursday of each month. There is information on the website. I am almost 9 months post-op RNY (-120 lbs and counting!) and have had a wonderful experience with both surgeons in the program and the staff. Angela, I, too, am relocating to Oklahoma from GA. My husband is transferring with the US Postal Service. We are looking to settle in Norman/Moore area. I am 3 days post op gastric lap band. It would be great to hook up in OK. Letecia Drake

Seems like we have 3 more moving to OK. You will really like it here. I think it would be fun to have a get together soon. Someone mentioned in June at Hakey Creek Park. It's a really nice park. Let's keep in touch and try to plan something for June. Carrie

Letecia, It sounds like we'll both be transplants then. It would be wonderful to get to know you. I'm really going to miss my Dr, support group, and close friends here. They have all helped me get to this point and I hope to meet people that want to be in a supportive friendship there as well. I hope things are going good for you following your lap band.
