I'm needing some help here guys!
Hi! I'm Stacy and I'm consitering Lap Band. I need to hear from some of you guys what it's done for you. How did it help you and what was your biggest problem? I'm really interested and I'm so glad I found this website! Also: if you live in the Oklahoma city area let me know who your doctor is and if you liked him
Thanks so much
Stacy
Hi, Stacy.
I am pre-op, but I talked this over with my surgeon. He is in Wichita Falls, and has over 25 years doing weight loss surgeries. For me, he said I would be better off with RNY, as many of his patients did not have as much success with the band. I suggest you find a surgeon and get his opinion. The other thing that helped me was buying the book Weight Loss Surgery for Dummies. It has a chapter that breaks down each of the procedures and talks about pros and cons. This is an essential read. Hope this helps.

I had the rny surgery, but my Dr. does both. He is Dr. Walton of Weightwise in Edmond. Dr. Broussard at weightwise is wonderful too!
Check out their website, www.weightwise.org for some more information. I know of several people who have had the lap band and are doing great. I hope this helps.

Hi Stacy,
I had the band done October 12, 2006. I used Russell Gornichec. He is awesome!
Have you checked with your insurance to find out first of all if you are covered, unless you are going to go self pay.
If insurance does cover, find out which doctors are they approve of.
Dr. Gornichec does have a free educational seminar that he gives an explaination of the procedure, as well as answer any questions you might have.
The next seminar is this coming Tuesday, March 13th at 6:00p.m. at Integris Hospital in Conference Room G on the Concourse Level. It is open to anyone and everyone.
If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to contact me via private message.

Hello Stacy
I have Dr. Holsaeter. He is with St. Anthony's.
I had my lap band on October 19, 2006.
I haven't had any problems. I was sore for the first 3 days, but after that was feeling great.
I've had 4 fills so far. I can still eat chips and salsa if I want too.
I try to stay under 800 calories.
I lost weight fast within the first 2 months, it has slowed down since then.
but my doctor said the 2 lbs a week is really good.
