Some questions for those of you that have had the lap band.....
I am having lap band surgery on February 15th. I'm very excited. I'm a private pay patient. The doctor's office asked me if I had sleep apnea and I responded no, not that I know of. They aren't having me do a sleep study. Is this something that "should" be done or am I just worrying for nothing? Also, I am having my surgery done at a surgery center and expected to go home the same day. Is this "normal?" I always thought that there was at least an overnight hospital stay. Maybe I'm just starting to "freak out." Thanks!
Probably depends on your BMI and the sleep study test cost $2500. I had one, they told me I had sleep apnea. Got a machine, hated it, but was told I had to take it to use in the hospital and they would have me stay overnight because of it. They never did anything with the mask I brought, just had me on oxygen the whole time. I am bad and don't use my machine. I think my weight loss will make it better anyway. Most people go home after the surgery, I was expecting to. They probably know what is best. I think the sleep apnea is one of the ins. requirements so that may be why you didn't have to do it. My surgeon required it. I didn't have to have a barium test that the others did because i was self pay too. You will probably do great, relax and eat well to get that liver down in size before surgery. Hope I helped. Robbie
Hello. I didn't do a sleep apnea test. But I'm sure everyone is different.
I was out of the hospital within 2 hours after I woke up. I was sore for the first 2 days. If you have to work, the weekend is great. I don't work, but my husband took off a couple of days. I had mine lapband done on a Thursday.
I wasn't really scared just a little nervous. I've had 3 c-section, but one went under for one of them.
If you have any other question, just give me an email. I only come into this site once or twice a week.
