what are the steps taken after you decide on which dr to see?and what is the usual waiting time for the surgery after you do see the dr?
Thanks,

Hey, my insurance is also with a hospital, but you should really check yours out. Several girls I work with have used Dr. Nelson in Norman, and that is who will be doing my RNY surgery on 12-12-06. The office was helpful but not over the top. I completed their paper work, got a seminar on DVD (since I live 3 hours away) and they submitted my stuff to the insurance company. My approval process took 4 weeks and I was a shoe-in because so many people I work with have had RNY with this insurance.
Well. I found a great surgeron, Dr Holsaeter. He is with Saint Anthony's Hospital. They are so nice at this office. I started out at a different doctors office and they couldn't get me a date for surgery. They were having problems with their hospital. The whole process took about 2 weeks to get approved and the test you have done. I didn't feel like waiting any longer so I called Dr Holsater, since my other doctors are through Saint Anthony's. I was in Dr Holsater's office within a couple of days and since I was already approved for the surgery they had me a date in less then 2 weeks. You do have to go on a diet for at least 10 days before surgery.
I had my surgery on October 19, 2006. I have lost a total of 35lbs since October 9, 2006. So between the diet and the surgery, I have done good. I had my 1st fill a couple of weeks ago and everything is still great. I will have my 2nd fill the first week of Jan. If you call Dr. Holsaeter's Office, ask for Darla. She is very helpful. The number is 405-232-0144. Just to let you know Dr Holsaeter's has done several hunderd of these surgeries. He is a great doctor. Good Luck! You are welcome to contact me with any other questions.
