Medicaid

Does anyone know a bariatric surgeon in Oklahoma, maybe the OKC area? My sister is on Medicaid and is interested in the surgery as well but I can't find a surgeon locally that will take maedicaid. Thanks!

i dont know about since the medicare changes took place back in february, but dr floyd in edmond took medicare/medicaid from me a year ago... its worth giving him a call... he is in the list of physicians on OH...

my understanding was that Oklahoma Medicaid will not pay for WLS.....I finally started receiving Medicare ( I was approved for Social Security Disability after 5 years!) in June .... Medicare will only pay for it through a center of excellence , like Norman Hospital( Dr. Keith ) ....One of the docs in OKC told me this in June.. some people use Medicare and Medicaid interchangeably...they arent the same ...Medicare is for Senior Citizens and those on Social Security Disability .... Medicaid is income based = welfare... I think I have seen where some special state plans like voc rehab or something like that has paid for WLS for people on Medicaid ( Welfare) ....good luck , Debbi
