Topic: A story where goals and a positive attitude turned lemons into lemonade

This program is being hosted by the Movin' Forward Long Term Post-op Support Group. The program is open to anyone.

Tuesday, November 22, 2011, 6:30 PM

Akron Main Branch Library

60 South High Street, Akron, OH

Meeting Room 1 - High Street Lobby opposite Auditorium Entrance

This program speaks to the importance of setting and achieving goals to move forward in a positive manner after a life threatening event. We believe that you will find the speaker's story, insight on life changes, and her positive thinking applicable to your journey as a post-op bariatric patient. This will be an evening that you do not want to miss!

A brief synopsis of our speaker's story...

Just after completing the Cleveland Half Marathon in 2010 Jone’ was diagnosed with breast cancer. She has spent the last 16 months undergoing surgery, radiation and chemotherapy treatment. She credits her friends, family, support staff, doctors and most importantly the Grace of God for the positive route this journey has led her through. In what could very easily be a journey through darkness, Jone’ has found the light and she glows from it.

During a time when most people would have been content to just use the treatment as a reason for not doing anything and trying to take life easy while allowing it to consume her physically, mentally, and spiritually, Jone’ turned it around. She kept a positive outlook, kept her friendships strong, and kept training.

Jone kept running but most importantly Jone lived life to its fullest. She trained when she was sick from the chemo, when she didn't have the strength and when her body told her to stop. But she pressed on; not only was running a physical release it was a mental and spiritual one as well. Jone capped her summer off by not only reaching the goal of completing chemotherapy but more importantly she also completed the Akron Half Marathon with her friends at her side.

Please join us and hear a person who has faced one of the most serious challenges a person can face in life. Hers is a truly inspirational story of overcoming what life has thrown at her. A true story of Thanksgiving and being able to tell others what your thankful for.

I think the band patients will be happy, when asked, he said, that the band patients know best if they need a fill or unfill, not him, and it is the patient that makes the choice. He was also not happy that there were no upper GIs done and no Iron tests done. My guess is that things are going to be much, much better.

I hope the new doctor treats his band patients better than Dr. Myers.  He was a total @$%hole to me.  My new surgeon gained a few new patients due to bad experiences with Dr. Myers.  He's an excellent surgeon, but not always patient friendly.

Topic: RE: Any former Dr. John Mobley patients out there?
Thanks for the info. I did contact Curry's office in Evendale, I believe it was and was told he will take me if I pay a $200 fee. Which really burns me because Mobley assured me when he did my procedure he would ALWAYS be at least in the Cincinnati area. Then when he told me he was moving 5 months after my surgery, he assured me Curry would take over my care for no additional fees. I live about 1.5 hrs east of Cincinnati so was hoping one of Dr. Mobley's patients near me (He did have an office out here) found something closer. I have a 10 wk old so not really wanting to have to drive 3 hrs to get fills. If I have to I will, just hoping not to lol

Dr Mobley was in with my doc (Curry) for a short time.  He (Curry) is out of Cincinnati but has an office in Columbus too.  Wouldn't they be able to take over your care?   ~Jennifer

Hello, I am looking to find any Dr. Mobley patients that have found a new Dr. to do their fills/follow up appointments since Dr. Mobley left the area. I got pregnant 6 months post surgery (lost 76 lbs yippie), had my band emptied and recently had my baby and have since discovered I need to find a new Dr. to fill me. Talk about being disappointed! Especially after being told I would have to pay $200 to have another Dr. see me after Dr. Mobley told me this fee would be waived. Anyhoot, just wanted to see if anyone had any suggestions on a new Dr.??? Thanks!
