60 South High Street, Akron, OH
Meeting Room 1 - High Street Lobby opposite Auditorium Entrance
This program speaks to the importance of setting and achieving goals to move forward in a positive manner after a life threatening event. We believe that you will find the speaker's story, insight on life changes, and her positive thinking applicable to your journey as a post-op bariatric patient. This will be an evening that you do not want to miss!
A brief synopsis of our speaker's story...
Just after completing the Cleveland Half Marathon in 2010 Jone’ was diagnosed with breast cancer. She has spent the last 16 months undergoing surgery, radiation and chemotherapy treatment. She credits her friends, family, support staff, doctors and most importantly the Grace of God for the positive route this journey has led her through. In what could very easily be a journey through darkness, Jone’ has found the light and she glows from it.
During a time when most people would have been content to just use the treatment as a reason for not doing anything and trying to take life easy while allowing it to consume her physically, mentally, and spiritually, Jone’ turned it around. She kept a positive outlook, kept her friendships strong, and kept training.
Jone kept running but most importantly Jone lived life to its fullest. She trained when she was sick from the chemo, when she didn't have the strength and when her body told her to stop. But she pressed on; not only was running a physical release it was a mental and spiritual one as well. Jone capped her summer off by not only reaching the goal of completing chemotherapy but more importantly she also completed the Akron Half Marathon with her friends at her side.
Please join us and hear a person who has faced one of the most serious challenges a person can face in life. Hers is a truly inspirational story of overcoming what life has thrown at her. A true story of Thanksgiving and being able to tell others what your thankful for.
