I was wondering what kinds of food some you ate at 2 weeks post op. I'm having a really hard time getting in enough calories. I get the protein in thanks to the shakes i make. But not the calories or water. Wondering what is working for everyone else.

Congratulations!!  According to his credentials, the information indicates that Dr. Schauer does the DS.  However, I noticed that it wasn't mentioned as an option, during the seminar.  It's nice to know that it may (MAY) be an option.

Best Wishes on your continued recovery and journey!!!

I just had my surgery with Dr Rogula on August 24. My surgery was done with one single cut right above my belly button. The cut is only about an inch. Its called a single port. Only Dr Rogula does it CCF. I barely had any pain from it.

Congratulations!!!

How do you feel otherwise?  Are you sipping and walking?

Best Wishes!!!

I have had RNY surgery and am from KY but I do read the Ohio board from time to time.  There is no way you won't qualify unless you have a severe medical problem that would keep you from havning the surgery.  Even at that you can find doctors that take high risk cases an you will be fine.  Most all insurance companies require a 6 month diet.  All they want to do is see that you can lose, I think you just have to lose a few pounds for them to clear you for the surgery, I do know you can't gain while on the pre-op diet.  Your doctor will tell you more about that.  If you are just starting to have problems with your knee you probably will be fine and once you lose your weight or even some of it, that will probably clear up.

Don't worry about it though, this is the first step towards the rest of your life.  You may want to go to the main board for those that have had or are planning on having RNY surgery, here's the link,  www.obesityhelp.com/forums/rny/  I think you will find out more there and will also meet more going to have the surgeries.  Be sure and read about all the different types of surgeries though so you know that you are a good fit for RNY.  Your doctor should also help you with this.

Topic: MEDICAID AND MEDICARE SURGEONS LIST!
Hello Members,

On a daily basis we get calls from members in desperate need of surgeons that will accept Medicaid and or Medicare for Bariatric surgery.  It breaks our hearts when we have to say "we don't know of any surgeons in your state we can refer you to".

Can you please help us? If you know of any surgeons in your state that accepts Medicaid and or Medicare, will you list their:

Name

If they accept Medicare and or Medicaid

Phone number

Facility

Address

This list will remain here for our members to access and use.

Thank you so much!!!

I'm in Westlake too and I've only heard of one support group...It's in Parma and they meet at Denny's on Mondays. I CAN'T confirm it, I've never been to it but...If someone started a group around here, I'd love to come! I'm 3 weeks post DS.
