I am having my first meeting with a WLS in Ashland, KY on Tue. I have CareSource of Ohio. Does anyone have any experience with them? How long did it take from your first meeting to your surgery? What all did you have to do to get approved? Thanks for your help.
my name is Amy Nicholl and I am almost a year and a half post op. I weighed 300 the day of surgery and I stepped on the scale at 143 today. I never thought I would get this far, but here I am. I am in Suffield, not far at all from Akron. I had RNY with Dr. Z on 10/31 - love love LOVE that man! I haven't been to a support group at Summa yet, but hope to start after the New Year. I'd be interested in something - what did you have in mind?

I am in Akron area, also early stages of pre-op. Dr. Dan will hopefully be performing my surgery in Q1 or early Q2 next year.

HW - 435 SW - 405 CW - 320ish Don't have access to a scale right now.
I am planning on going back to Chlysta, just because he knows what kind of scar tissue, etc. he will have to deal with.
The scariest part of that entire episode - I was so sick, I didn't even know I was knocking on death's door. After the fact, I learned that 1 in 4 patients that develop septic shock do not survive! 
I never experienced any symptoms of a band slip or erosion - no change in restriction, no port pain or infection. If you can, I recommend an endoscope every year. If I had had a routine endoscope, or one when the CT scan first showed fluid around the port tubing, I never would have gotten so sick.
I loved my band and wish I could have it back.
Wow! I read yopur blog. You lapband issue was scary. I have Lapband and had it put on in July 2008. I am doing fine but am always fearful of something happening. I had surgery at Summa and highly recommend it. They have a fantastic WLS center and great people. Good luck with your upcoming surgery. - Tom
