Caresource does pay for Bariatric Surgery, just like the other Medicaid plans. But you will have to follow a supervised diet for quite a while, have a psychiatric exam, meet with a nutritionist/dietician, and probably attend WLS support groups. Talk to your PCP about sending over a referral, if you have any heart conditions you will probably need your Cardiologist to sign off. OSU, Mt.Carmel, and Riverside all have Bariatric Surgeons. I know OSU takes Medicaid. Probably the other 2 also. Good Luck.
How long did it take to be approved? I have the same plan. And I have completed everything. I won't be submitted until Monday bc RN is on vacation. I'm a little frustrated bc I should have already been submitted but they didnt call to asked me about the sleep study they just assumed I didn't do it and put me to the side. Now I have longer ton wait. Also after approval when how long til surgery?
I am very early in this process. Attended a seminar, and had a first appointment, them received notice that the physician left the practice. I live in west central Ohio, an hour and a half from Dayton and Toledo, two and a half hours from Columbus. The closest bariatric physician is at Wood County Hospital. Have any of you had experience with this hospital and surgeon? Who have you had good experience with?
HI I AM INTERESTED IN GETTING WEIGHT LOSS SURGERY, IM 498 AND I HAVE MEDICAID CARESOURCE, WILL THEY APPROVE SURGERY? DO I HAVE TO DO THE 9 MONTH SUPERVISED DIET? PLEASE HELP
Do you remember who did your Psych eval for WLS? I currently have buckeye and am having NO luck finding a doctor to do it. It is the only thing I have left to do before surgery.
You should be able to find the website and requirements for each of the plans.
Hi Katie!
I recommend The Cleveland Clinic. There is a wide variety of providers to choose from. I have all of my docs and specialists there.
Also, they have the Bariatric and Metabolic Institute at main campus, and I've found that it seems to make the docs more compassionate. I don't have a specific on/gym to recommend. But, my PCP is pretty awesome and that may be a good place to start.
