more hoops

I have been working on getting surgery for over a year. I finally got insurance approval and found I had to go to OSU instead of Baratric Center. They accepted my psychological, I met with the dietician and had my pre-surgery physical. Just got a letter from my doctor saying that now they need iron levels, TSH levels, a copy of my sleep study and a specific referral to a specific doctor. More hoops. Arrgh. This is so frustrating. So I called the doctor to get the other things they need to them. I am so frustrated as I know that once approved I still have to go through 4 weeks of classes. So now instead of June I'm hoping for July. Tell me it does end sometime. Dianna

Dianna , I feel your pain !!!!! took me almost a year to get approved and now i am still not sure as to when i actually get a date becuase the insurance co is in negotiation with the hospital so they wont even let me start on my liquid Diet i guess till this is settled .. were lookin at june 1st but who knows !!!! GRRRRR but have faith and i will too that this summer we both will be on the loosing side take care Missy

My first try was 1999 I wish I could have had it then. I would have never of damanged my heart. But surgeons have most of the kinks out of this surgey now as well. So things wasnt meant to be. Then in dec 2004 I logged onliine and seen a baratric comercail. That ruined my holidays and everything. All I could do was think of the surgery. I stayed home christmas day and family went to my sisters, I felt so bad. I was so sick about this surgery. I finally got it approved Sept 2005. Nobody in my family thought and beleived me when I told them I was having the surgery. Because I want thru it in 1999 and was denied. I never fought it. So I showed them They all said. I heard that before. It will happen your date is right around the corner. So happy for you Barb

It does end! I know the frustration that you are feeling. When I was seeking approval, it seemed like everytime that I thought I had everything, they came up with something else that I needed! I finally won the battle! Approval was given and now I am almost 200 pounds less then I used to be. Hang in there! It will end.

Dianna, I had my surgery at OSU. It is worth all of the hoops and jumps. They are the best. Once you get done with the 4 weeks of nutrition counseling, I had my surgery 2 weeks after. Just hang in there. You will be so happy that you are going to OSU. They make sure all the T's are crossed and the I's are dotted. If you have any questions, let me know. Hang Tough!
