I am 10 1/2 months post op and I cannot eat any red meat. (Steak, pot roast, pork chops, french fries, hash browns, tater tots). Does anyone else have this problem? If I try to eat those items, I get instantly sick. I know that you are not suppose to eat some of those items cause that is why you had the surgery, but I just wanted to try them.
I never get sick on those. I dont have my gallbladder. Could be. Most people need their gallbaddres removed who have had this surgery. I love steak and pot roast. You need to be getting that natural protein in as well. I would ask your surgeon why you are npot ab;le to eat these things.

Michelle,
I don't have my gallbladder but I still can't eat red meats either. Steak, hamburger, pork, roast all sit very heavy on my stomach and make me feel very sick. I just avoid them and now eat lots of fish, chicken, and ground turkey. Matter of fact I cook spaghetti, tacos, chili, and even meatloaf with ground turkey. My kids love it and can't even tell the difference anymore. I haven't tried the hash browns and tater tots so wouldn't know how that would set. I am a big chicken. Shoot I just had my first bite of bread about a week ago and it almost made me puke.

I can eat any kind of meat , except leftover poultry ( chicken, turkey) at times chicken strips from Mcdonalds bothers me and at other times it doesn't I guess it depends on what mood my pouch is in that day.
I try to steer away from fries, potatoes.
Grapes are o.k I actaully have been able to ahndle them from early on.
My problem is breads, I cannot handle them at all.
I'm 16 months out and still have a hard time with most beef. I can eat a small amount of steak if it is sliced very thin and I chew it to death! Hamburger is a no go for me. Chicken is very hard for me to get down unless I do the nugget thing. Ham is a good option for me. I miss hamburger to the point of driving into Burger King for coffee and just inhaling the aroma of it! Pitiful huh? Potatoes tend to sit heavy on my pouch but I will have a bite of them occasionally. I opt for turkey. It sits well and I can crock pot a small piece of it and eat on it for a couple of days. I buy turkey parts at Walmart who seems to be the only store around me that carries parts. Good luck!
