Esophagal dilation Remove band??Dr C???
I have had the lapband for over a year with no problems until two months ago when my dr tightened the band way to much, i went back and had some removed twice but it still was to tight, they were trying to help me stay as tight as possible, this last time I went back to have some removed I was told that my esophagus was dilated big time and all saline was removed . I am giving it a month to heal all reflux and dark stools went away completely after the unfill. My question is if it was because the band was so tight and all my symptons have gone away do you think it will go back to normal or do I have a good chance it will have to be removed? I am so nervous it is going to be a long month to wait. I can find very little info on this but it seems to me if it was okay until it was to tight that I may have a good chance? PLease let me know what you think my chances are? Thanks Becky
Becky,
Many cases of esophageal dilation do go away when the band is loosened. You will have to be patient and see what happens, which is tough I realize. I would imagine after a month they will get another esophagram and see what things look like. Then it will be easier to make predictions.
Good luck,
Dr. C
