Groveport Barix and 167lbs
Hello, not long ago someone posted wanting to know about Barix and experiences. Well I had an open gastric bypass surgery on 3/2/05. It is now almost 13 months later and i have lost ( drummmmm rollllll) 167 lbs. I started at 326 and now i weigh 159. I am 5'2" and would like to lose 29 more lbs. I did like Dr. Viglianco, but was not completely satisfied with the male patient advocate or whatever he was. He had the surgery and now takes before pictures of you and answes your questions. He was not very friendly and was not much help. I may be a bit biased in my opinion, as i am a nurse and have high expectations of the care i should get. Also the petite Indian night shift aide/respiratory therapist was not very gentle. She changed my IV bag...something she is not licensed to do. She gave my mom a breathing treatment lying doown...a huge no no and she is a respiratory therapist
. She tries her best, but lacked some common sense in my opinion. Definately have someone stay with you if possible. Overall the nurses were great, Dr Viglianco was excellent... but given my other experiences i will not be using the barix for my upcoming plastic surgery.
Just wanted to share a straight and honest opinion.
Good luck work the tool!

Hi !!!! Congrats on your loss. I had my rny at Barix on November 7, 2005. I have thus far lost 75 lbs. I did not care for the patient advocate guy either and let Barix know on their survey. He was of no use. He showed me his picture and that was it, he was in a hurry to leave. I had a pretty good experience after surgery, there was one nurse that was so great and yet there was another that was a total idiot. My surgeon Dr. Barber has left Barix, so now I have to see Dr. Bates for my check ups, she's not a surgeon. I feel sort of abandoned. I have been attending the support group at Barix.I would like to connect with more folks that have had the surgery, those who haven't are a bit clueless. I feel supported my co-workers, family and friends but not the same..............
