I was wondering does medicaid pay for Lap Band procedures ever? If medicaid is your secondary insurance do they just pay the difference of any WLS or do you have to go through approval with them also. Both of these ?'s were asked and I suggested they ask you but they never did. I am hoping I can get some insight and maybe they will be reading the posts. Thanks Nik

Nik, I have only ever had 1 patient that Medicaid (in Ohio that is) approved the band for. With the recent Medicare ruling that may well change though. As far as I know, if Medicaid is secondary you would still have to go through the approval process. Dr. C
