I am preparing for my surgery. I've been accepted by the insurance but I am waiting approval by OSU. Is there anything I can do to begin to get ready. I have given up pop as I understand that I cannot drink it after the surgery. Any think else I can do now to help my transition be easier. Thanks. I am excited and nervous. Dianna

Hi Dianna: I would suggest getting use to drinking all your fluids. I am 5 days post op and the fluid intake is the hardest for me. As i never drank fluids like this before and it is very important not to dehydrate. Maybe if i had been doing this pior to surgery I might not be having such a rough time. Learn to sip your drinks and not gulp. I bought sippy cups and that seems to help me control the amount i am taking in at once. Other then that I jus****ched what i ate and did a lot of message board reading and testing and trying out different protien drinks. My favorite one is called unjury you can order this online www.unjury.com I tried several while i was waiting my last few steps. Good luck you to ! Teresa

Hi Dianna, I was in the same boat -- cannot drink pop, hate water and all the 'fruity' drinks. So I got an iced tea maker by Mr. Coffee and make a DECAF tea with splenda every day. It only takes 7 small tea bags to make an excellent iced tea. Also try Propel water, it's not too sweet. Also heard of Vitamin water from Krogers, but haven't tried it myself yet Good luck! Rita

Sweet tea w/splenda and green kool aid was all I could stand early out, so I did the decaf thing, too. It's the best !!!
