Dr C. While I am finishing my Cigna 6 month diet requirement my family physician sent me for a sleep study last night. Unfortunately I have apnea and will have to have C pap but now I can hope to start feeling better. Anyway...the sleep tech was telling me about some new surgery procedure for obesity using electrodes inserted via laparascopy to the stomach. They work to make you feel full. He said they were going to be approved in 2006. Do you have any knowledge of this new procedure? Sandy

Sandra, You're talking about the gastric pacer, and the results to date have been fairly disappointing. To my knowledge the best study shows about a 20% excess weight loss. In my mind it's hardly worth having surgery for that... C
