Any Barix Groveport Patients Here?

I FINALLY have a consultation for April 7 at Barix in Groveport, Ohio!! I'm so excited and glad to finally see progression. I've read the reviews of Barix and they all seem to be excellent. So are there any Barix people here? What were your thoughts? Which doctor did you use? And from the time of your consult, how long was it before your surgery date? I'm a self-pay patient, so I hope that will expedite the process. Thanks! Melissa

I was self pay at Barix for the lapband. I had my surgery with Dr. Barbara, but he is no longer there. I loved Barix. I paid my money, and chose my date. My care was excellent, and it is a first rate facility!!

I had my appt on 2/11/05 , my 2 week pre-op on 5/18/05 and operation on 6/1/05. Dr. Vig. is a wonderful doctor. Great bed side manner. I had to wait for my sleep apnia appt then have my machine for 6weeks then my pre-op. My started weight was 401lbs b4 surgery and now I'm @ 258.2 lbs. I gain water after the surgery so I went to 428.5lbs. So b4 surgery I'm down 142.8lbs b4 surgery (170.3 lbs post surgery). I only had to wait 3weeks for my insurance to approve it all. Hi Melissa, I first went to Barix in Nov. I have had a ton of diferent tests, mostly for insurance, but some were for the surgeon and my family doctor. If you don't have to deal with the Insurance dept in Michigan... you are blessed... they are so slow. But I have been very happy with the Groveport office. Since Dr Barbara left I think surgeries are schedualed out a bit with the other 2 doctors trying to work in his patients as well. My surgery is Apr 17th, I have a friend who was approved by insurance last Monday, and was told they were schedualing into May... I now have Dr Viglianco.. I have read many good things about him... I get to meet him on the 3rd when I go in for preop. It is a beautiful facility and I was impressed by the friendliness of the staff begining with the receptionist on back... you will like it there. Pam, He is very nice. He was my surgeon at first. But when I was approved he was out of my network so I had to change. They took for ever to get with my insurance. Its almost here Hugs Barb

Hello Melissa! I love Barix! They are a top notch facility. I had scheduled a consult on 07/25/03 with Dr. Viglianco but for some reason (and I think it was meant to be) Dr. Stelmack came into the consult room instead! I was very impressed with him and still am. From there I did the WLS dance.. which means all the hoops and waiting. I found out right before Christmas 03 that I had been approved and set a date for 02/17/04. I have gone from 315 lbs to 177. I have had no complications. My type 2 diabetes is no longer an issue (but something I'll always monitor). I have never had a bad experience with Barix. EVERYONE has always been friendly, helpful and courteous. The facility is beautiful! I especially like the receptionist, she's a kick!! It was the best decision I ever made to go to Barix for my surgery. However, I received a letter in the mail this past Friday informing me that my surgeon Dr. Stelmack will no longer be providing services at Barix. I was devastated but understand that he's moving on to another place to help others. I will miss him terribly and I wish him the absolute best. Makes me glad that the last time I saw him (05/17/05) that I took him and the staff a 3 lb box of the finest candy in Canton, Ohio...Heggy's!! Kind of ironic taking candy to a weight loss facility but hey....I just didn't think flowers were good enough.... You won't be sorry choosing Barix. Another Barix, and Dr. V, patient here. I had a great experience. Knock on wood, I'm still feeling great and plugging away at the weight loss. I'm almost five months out and down 78 pounds. Good luck!

Love Barix!!!! It is a 3 hour drive for me, but I wouldn't change a thing. The staff is wonderful and alot of them have had WLS too. I had Dr. Barbara. I am so sad he is gone. What a wonderful man. I had my consult in mid December 2004 and surgery March 22, 2005. WOW!!!! That is a year today. I need a new pic. I am very glad I chose Barix in Groveprot. Terri

I'm scheduled for open roux-n-y on Tuesday of next week. I'm really getting excited. I'll have Dr. V. The facility is nice. I'm a nurse and I asked the questions about emergency stuff and was satisfied with the answers. I'll let you know more after next week. laney
