I'M A NEWBEE, I'M TRYING TO LEARN AS MUCH AS I CAN BEFORE MY SURGERY. I WOULD LIKE TO START MAKING A LIST OF WHAT PEOPLE DRINK AS FAR AS FRUIT DRINKS AND PORTIN SHAKES? I'D LIKE TO NO YOUR FAVORITE FLAVORS, THE NAMES AND WHERE IS THE BEST PLACE TO BUY THESE ITEMS? I KNOW THIS INFO WILL HELP ME LATER AFTER I HAVE THE SURGERY. PLEASE OFFER ANY IDEAS. GOD BLESS

Debra, Welcome! First I want to let you know that your taste will be so different after surgery. Things that I tried before surgery I can't even smell without wanting to . I don't do protein shakes. I get all my protein from foods and adding Beneprotein or a chocolate protein powder to my milk in the mornings. I have never been able to stomach them. There are others that love them. But everyone is different. My surgeon has never stressed a protein shake. And all of my blood work is perfect. I am almost 7 months out and have lost 103 lbs. My prayers are with you during your journey. If you need anything let me know. Rocquetta 333/230/165

I thought I'd say hi since we're so close in proximity. I had lapband the 13th of February, and I'd be happy to exchange emails and perhaps even get together. There is a support group of those who have had or considering WLS. That meets at Van Wert Hospital the first Tuesday of each month. I have some protein that I have tried, and would be happy to let you have them to try before making the investment in new ones. I have Body Fortress, Unjury (unflavored) and Necar (peach). Just let me know, and I'll get them to you... Theresa 333/301/under200

I get my protein powder on bariaticeating.com. Susan knows what tastes good and doesn't carry anything that doesn't taste good. The Rockn' Roll protein, high in calories, but if you only eat half its not to bad. They are very yummy. I like the Elite, Chocolate. I have it every morning made with ice and water. It taste really good. Bobye

I used the Unjury brand protein shakes. I like the vanilla flavor. No bad aftertaste and you can add peanut butter or bananas to the blender to make them even better and higher in protein. You can't make hot drinks out of them though, the powder will just gel up on you. I got mine at Unjury.com. They even sell samples on the cheap so you can try them before you buy a larger container and not like them. Good luck to you!
