No more diabetes?!date set

My date is April 19th. I am excited, nervous and anxious all in one. I met with Dr. Needleman last week and feel more at ease. I had decided to have the lapband but found out my insurance would not cover it as my BMI was too high. After speaking with Dr. Needleman, I would have decided on the RNY anyway because he said I have an 85% chance of reversing the diabetes. He said the weightloss helps this but something in the procedure actually causes a cure. The lap band would not necessarily do this. He is focusing on researching which part of the procedure does this so he can help other diabetics without the weightloss. Pretty cool huh?

I was takeing 70 units of inslin a day 40 morning and 30 evening plus 30 mg actose plus 2 glybridenot sure about that spelling sense my surgery I only take the actose good luck Michael

Dr. Needleman did my surgery on 10-5-05. He was fantastic. I am not diabetic, but that Dr. and that surgery have turned my life around! Good luck. Who knows, maybe goodbye diabetes!
