I really want to share this
Thanks dear ladies for answering my post. {{{{hugs}}}} (see thread- Would anyone be able to help me?)
(I want to share this just in case anyone else gets told they need therapy and are feeling alone and unsure. I went for my psych exam, the Dr. let me think everything was fine and then told the hospital Dr. that I needed help. I got it coming from the back door and felt totally blindsided as he let me think all was A-OK )
I went to see a therapist that is closer to where I live. We had an hour session and she was great. She hasn't gotten the report from my initial therapist, but at the conclusion of the session she shared with me that she could find nothing to warrant continuing therapy and that she wants me to take the test again. Fortunately my employer pays all my insurance co-pays and deductables so the cost isn't an issue.
She also had an issue with the fact that the initial Dr. never called me or scheduled for me to see him and go over his findings and impressions. BOY, did that EVER make me feel better.
I feel much more comfortable with this lady. It is not that I don't want help if I need it, but how can you trust someone Will help you, if they don't act in a trustworthy manner to begin with.
The scariest thing is when you feel alone....
The best thing to me about obestity help is that (so far) anytime I have shared, someone has come along to help me feel Not Alone.
Thanks bunches,
hugs, Barbara

Hi Barb,
Just wanted to let you know that you are never alone when you can come here. Also, when you have your surgery, let me know the date and I will be happy to come down to SVC and visit you. It always helps to talk with someone who has been there, done that. You can email me and I will give you my phone # and you can call me if you need to. Good luck on the journey.

Hi Barb...
Were you at Wednesday's pre-op support meeting at St. V's? I saw someone *****minded me of you but didn't get over to talk to you.
As a social worker, I'm very distressed over how the first psych treated you. It was dishonest at best. The client should be told FIRST what the report is going to say, not be told by a second party. You can file a complaint with the liscensing board if you feel strongly about it. If you need the website for the board, e-mail me.
I'll be at next months pre-op support meeting too. Let me know if you'll be there and we can meet face to face!!
Melissa
Hi, Melissa!
No, I didn't get to the pre-op support meeting. I am on a sixth month diet and so possibly they only send notices if you are closer to surgery.
I really appreciate what you wrote on the messageboard. I will have to give it some thought about filing a complaint. Everybody has bad days, or bad weeks (ha ha) perhaps he meant to call and it got messed up in the daily grind. I am happy now with this psychologist and I go Monday morning for another test. The thing that kept me going and kept me 'up', was Dr. Courtney Holbrook. She is such a sweet lady and was very kind.
Let me know when the next pre-op support meeting is and perhaps I can get there. It is about a two hour drive.... but Dr. Ben-Meir is worth it
I would love to meet someone from this board face to face
it should feel like a family reunion. Have you looked into going to the Pittsburgh Convention... I am planning on going. It is in May.
Thanks and hugs,
Barbara

Woah .... that was really rotten!
I am confused though. Do you select who to go to for a pysch evaluation or does the surgeon? If I have to pick my own I hope I don't go to that first one you went to! That is scarey.
Thanks for sharing and I hope everything works out for you. That is really a bummer and a set back in your process
