Has anyone used Fresh Start Bariatrics I have been offically aprroved for surgery but the surgeon is out of network. I need to decide if I want to pay the out of network cost. Our local hostipal has a new program with Fresh Start and I wondered if anyone has heard of them. My other option might be Ohio State. I've waited a year for all of this so I hate to begin the process with another hostipal. Dianna

Hmmm, I haven't heard of Fresh Start, but have heard great things about Ohio State.

OSU OSU OSU please I attended a fresh start seminar with a friend researching the surgery. They just started surgery in Nov. The surgeon was at Mt Carmel E and moved to Lancaster. His experience is not as extensive as those at OSU. The Hospital is not as experience with gastric bypass patients as OSU. Please research this out,ask questions. My friend decided not to go thru Fresh start. I was not impressed with the seminar I was 4wks out when I went thru the seminar with her and my questions that I asked were met with indignation & weren't answered just got a run around. Dr Barbara is not with the Barix anymore Dianna... you will have a new Doctor regardless... Osu will probably make you redo some of your preop. They want it done with their people. My sister is doing OSU, I am doing Barix...But do research and check for experience. I have not heard good things about Mt Carmels program... Good Luck! Pam

Dianna, I agree with Denise! Osu is absolutely wonderful, and I think the wait would be more than worth it. First of all, just about everyone I know that has went through Barix had to have open bypass(no matter what there weight was), OSU trys to avoid the open bypass so that your recovery rate is much quicker and less invasive. All I'm saying is please, please, please research this before making a decision. This is the rest of your life! Heres where you can go to check out some surgeons from OSU, check there stats and credentials. http://www.obesityhelp.com/morbidobesity/bariatric+surgeon+profile+Dean+J+Mikami+nqp.html http://www.obesityhelp.com/morbidobesity/bariatric+surgeon+profile+Bradley+J+Needleman+cdk.html

Fresh Start Bariatrics is from the Mansfield area. My husband went to them and did not follow through with their program. They had him running all over the Mansfield area for pre-surgery testing and all the other testing that they want you to go through. Very un-organized program. (at least it was 1 1/2 years ago).. During their seminar they tell you what the total cost will be for the surgery. DO NOT believe them.. there is alot of hidden cost involved that they do not tell you.. The different specialist that they have you going to were always cancelling appointements and wanting to re-schedule. Well, if you live out of town about 1 hour away from them, sometimes it was impossible to re-schedule another. .. I would not recommend Fresh Start Bariatrics !!!
