Hello everyone.. I am new here, my name is Jessica, I am 20 years old and looking for someone to talk to. A little background on me, I started gaining weight at about 8, and by 10 I was up to 134lbs. By the time I hit my teens, I was into the 200's. I lost some of the weight in high school, mostly by not eating, exercising, diet pills and only drinking water. I was 235 when I started and I got down to 200, and I felt and looked so much better. I have a large frame, so I am not looking to be 120lbs! LOL When I got pregnant with my son I was 270lbs, and gained 22lbs while pregnant, putting me to 292. Now, he is a year old and I weigh 298. I am ashamed, I rarely leave the house, and I am angry and depressed all the time. I am not looking to have surgery because frankly, I am scared to death. I would much rather lose the weight on my own, and was wondering if anyone has any advice for me. I also don't know if I am "too far gone" to do it on my own, and if surgery is the only option for me. I also should add that I have absolutley NO willpower whatsoever. Any comments, suggestions, or advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Jessica, There is certainly no reason to be ashamed, there are tens of thousands of patients in the same boat. Instead of fretting about the past, focus on the future and the many wonderful options that are out there to help you and the many wonderful patients here that can be an inspiration to you. Dr. C

Hi Jessica....First of all I want to ask if you ever sought out counseling for your depression and why your angry?...That would most likely be the first step I would take....Start working on feeling better....I know its hard to feel good about yourself when your overweight but you have to get the depression thing under controll because that is a huge issue when dealing with weight and I'm sure the anger has guilt built in with it...believe me girl I understand....If you want to E-mail me that would be great and we can talk....Hugs...Kelly

Hello John, Wow, it is amazing to meet someone who has actually heard of Geneva, let alone work here.. LOL Most people have no idea that Geneva even exists! My Aunt and Uncle live in Concord, and it is a very nice community out there. Thanks for your kind words. It is nice to know that there are people out there who are going through what I am going through and understand
