One thing we often do for higher BMI patients who are interested in the band is to put you on a Medifast diet and monitor you very closely to achieve some weight loss before surgery. I can say that in almost every case patients go through 3 phases - 1) why do I have to do this, I'll never succeed 2) it's not as bad as I thought and I'm actually losing weight, and 3) hot d#mn I've lost a lot of weight and I'm ready for surgery with a huge head start on my weight loss! Pam, I am sure you are so upset. I had rny 19 months ago and I feel great. There are ups and downs but I love being normal. I am surly not skinny but I am very comfortable. I started at 269 and I weigh 160 and holding. I would love to weigh 140 but I am fine with this. I was down to 154 but for some reason I gained a few(Christmas???) Hey, I am not a saint. lol. Anyway, whatever Dr. C says I truly believe him. He is my HERO. He saved my life .He really did. Good luck to you whatever you decide. Love, Cindy
